We have been mostly fishing for the big fellas lately, with a few school sized charters mixed in. Here are a few shots with our latest. 100″ 530 lbs.

Great Fly Fishing

The last few days we have been into some great fly fishing. The surface activity seems to be right on the tide change. Mostly the first hour or two of the incoming. Plenty of smaller fish but there are some bigger ones in there also. Managed to round up a nice 32 and a 34, a heck of a time on an 8 weight. Hopefully this continues as these feeds are really exciting. We still have openings to head out there. And again if you would like to give this type of fishing a shot, we would love to teach you how to fly fish.

Saturday was a super day with Karl, Nick and Liesel. They have been out with us a few times now and it is always a pleasure to have them aboard. The fishing was great and the company was even better. Bass are still around. For you Fly fisherman out there we are still seeing surface feeds. If you would like a quick trip early am or evening after work let us know. Tuesday Tuna

Tuesday, July 27th, Dave and Greg joined us again for a trip to get some fresh tuna for the freezer. Greg had been with us last year when we landed a great fish to end the season. Dave was with us the year before and unfortunately, although we hooked several tuna, we weren’t able to land one for him that time. This time would be different! It was an epic day with 4 tuna bites on the kite! We kept one of the fish, a fat 58″ tuna. Great job Greg and Dave…

Bass for the Bachelor Party

Headed out on Saturday, July 30th for a recovery trip from the 3rd day into Matt’s bachelor party. Burke, Matt, Elliot and Val boarded the boat for a little R&R from their festivities. Bait was hard to come by… We scoured the area looking for bait and signs of bass feeds. After loading up some baits, we went in search of the spots we knew to produce some good bass. I think the fish decided to take a day off, but within a a few hours of leaving the dock, we saw feeds all over the harbor and race was on. Matt was the first to hook up and had a nice bass to the boat. Then Val and finally Burke… It was a run and gun kind of day on the big boat, but still produced some fish in the final hours.

Hope the rest of the festivities went well and we have have to get you guys out for tuna next time!!

Bringin a little Southern Style to the Northeast

July 23rd, we had the Texas crew on board for what was probably one of the funnier crews we have had along. This was a trip to remember, good and bad… Ralston’s crew showed up and we headed out in search of tuna, but what we found for the first several hours was bass, blue fish and a good lightening storm that made our day just a little crazier. We were hearing of tuna being caught and searched for the right area to get set up. Shortly after the lightening fried our kite, we got everything set out again. Luckily Ralston whispered something to the 80 reel and within a few minutes we were tight to a tuna on our balloon bait. a few of the guys took turns reeling in their prize and 30 minutes later, it was harpooned and tied up to the boat. I’m sure the photos/video will end up somewhere on YoTube!! It was a long day on the water, but worth it to watch the wasabi and soy come out at the dock for some of the freshest tuna you can imagine.

Fat Tuna Guides

Patience pays off

We were fortunate enough to have Matt, Dave and Nikki on board for a trip in search of tuna on July 22nd. We had an early start at 430 am since we have been running to the south off of PTown where the tuna have stayed until lately. After almost a 2 hour run to get to the area where we wanted to set up, we arrived to find tons of life, whales, birds, etc… The tuna are there, but we had to weed through the bass and blues to get to them. After a few hours of catching these little guys, we were ready for the tuna to take the bait. At about 1pm and after running to several different areas, we finally got what we were looking for… TUNA. Our balloon bait went off and Dave grabbed the rod. After about 25 minutes, we had a 58 inch Bluefin to the boat and tied off. Great day for all and some food to go home with.

Tuna Are In! Gotta travel for ‘em though

Had a great week last week, and hoping this front goes through quickly so we can get back fishing.

Multiple hookups with a few slot fish was Fattuna’s week last week. Driving forty miles to get in to the fish is not ideal, but necessary.

Stripers unsettled early

Striper fishing has been crazy feast or famine lately. The East wind, and up and down water temps have everything completey up in the air as far as feeding patterns. This time last week, the water temp was 62… Last night… 73!!

Hopefully things get organized quick.
